Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. The UX team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the behaviors and perceptions of people who use our products to inspire and inform design. As a Visual Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft industry-leading user experiences—from concept to execution. Like all of our UX jobs, you’ll collaborate with your design partners to leverage and evolve the Google design language to build beautiful, innovative, inspired products that people love to use.

We are the Creative team. We democratize advertising on YouTube by making excellent formats that are simple and performant. Using technology, we combine formats and assets to generate new creatives. Advertisers trust us to tell stories and elevate their brands. We deliver personalized ads at scale that can only exist at Google. We are represent the advertiser, conducting experiments and providing insights within our organization.

Google Ads is helping power the open internet with the best technology that connects and creates value for people, publishers, advertisers, and Google. We’re made up of multiple teams, building Google’s Advertising products including search, display, shopping, travel and video advertising, as well as analytics. Our teams create trusted experiences between people and businesses with useful ads. We help grow businesses of all sizes from small businesses, to large brands, to YouTube creators, with effective advertiser tools that deliver measurable results. We also enable Google to engage with customers at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including product managers and engineers across the YouTube platform, to understand requirements and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience through wireframes, storyboards, and high-fidelity prototypes, while integrating user feedback and business requirements into ongoing updates.
  • Lead the development and production of motion, illustration, and design systems for asset-based creatives on YouTube, ensuring all work is translated into documentation.
  • Advocate for design-centered changes and align visual direction, procedures, and standards to ensure the implementation of high-quality and consistent outputs.
  • Develop team expertise in aesthetics and composition by building a community of practice focused on strong visual design principles.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in visual design and graphic design, and with color, typography, and layout.
  • Experience in motion design or producing motion graphics.
  • Experience in brand identity design and creating or maintaining identity systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in display advertising, with a focus on creating systematic content for image and video creative generation.
  • Experience in design thinking and design patterns, with exploring the intersections of visual, interactive, and brand design in a scalable way.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly in technical roles, and the ability to communicate and influence product design strategy.
  • Excellent storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate the rationale behind design decisions and explore visual concepts.
