Software Engineer, Google Photos Search
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for Search and you will have an ambitious roadmap in 2026 to help Googles more than billion users by developing innovative search experiences powered by AI, across the massive scale backend infrastructure.
Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.
Responsibilities
- Write code to improve the quality and relevance of Google Photos search results.
- Develop tools and infrastructure for search quality evaluation, datasets and benchmarks.
- Use data to drive decisions and improve Search quality.
- Work closely with other Engineers, Product Managers, and Researchers to improve Search quality.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- Experience in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++) and other relevant frameworks.
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in software development with a focus on designing and building scalable, high-quality software systems.
- Experience in building AI solutions iterating on quality and evaluations.
- Experience in Search.
- Experience in designing, maintaining, and improving large-scale engineering systems.
- Ability to understand various sets of users and their behavior, and fine tune user experience for everyone.
- Excellent communication, and collaboration skills with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
