Community Engagement Manager, WEST, AWS InCommunities

Lead AWS Infrastructure's community engagement strategy across the Western United States, building relationships with local stakeholders and organizations to create positive impact while supporting AWS's regional growth. This role requires corporate experience, strategic thinking, and the ability to represent AWS effectively in community settings.
As the Community Affairs Manager for AWS Infrastructure in the Western US, you will develop and implement community engagement strategies that support AWS's infrastructure in the region. You will serve as AWS's representative to local communities, building relationships with key stakeholders and organizations to understand their needs and collaborate on impactful initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings experience working within corporate structures and community affairs. You should demonstrate the ability to write and speak effectively for audiences of varying sizes, think strategically while maintaining attention to detail, and work effectively with cross-functional teams. Success in this role requires self-awareness, autonomy, and alignment with Amazon Leadership Principles, particularly Think Big, Bias for Action, Earn Trust, and Ownership. You must be comfortable having difficult conversations with community members while achieving productive outcomes, and know when to escalate matters to leadership.
This role requires travel (approximately 25% of time) throughout the region, with a base location in Phoenix, Arizona.
Key job responsibilities
- Strategic Community Engagement: Lead community assessment for new infrastructure sites, identify potential risks, and develop engagement plans to proactively address community concerns while supporting AWS's data center infrastructure.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and local officials, representing AWS Infrastructure in public meetings and forums.
- Program Development and Implementation: Manage community programs, events, and initiatives following global standards while ensuring appropriate localization, including managing sponsorships and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Communication and Advocacy: Utilize multiple communication channels to promote community initiatives both internally and externally, including handling difficult conversations with community members to achieve productive outcomes.
- Impact Measurement: Capture and analyze data to demonstrate the quantified and qualified impact of community engagement initiatives, track metrics, and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional or military experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
- Experience working with multiple groups of stakeholders
- Track record of successfully navigating complex cultural and political environments while representing a global organization.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
