About the Role
As Head of Analytics and Data Science for eBay Australia, you will lead the transformation of
how we understand our customers, our business, and our market. This role blends deep local-
market analytics leadership with a modern, AI-driven, customer-data-science approach aligned
to global strategies.
You will lead a high-performing Australian analytics team, driving end-to-end insights across all
key customer, commercial and product areas of the business. You will serve as a trusted
partner to the Australian Leadership Team - including the MD, CMO and CFO - while also
playing an important role connecting AU insights to the International Markets Analytics Director
and global Customer Data Science organization.
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a hands-on, strategic thinker who thrives at the
intersection of market-level insight, customer data science, and AI-enabled decision-making.
What You Will Accomplish
1. Strategic Leadership & Influence
 Provide consultative, thought leadership to the Australian Leadership Team, shaping
data-driven strategies that drive customer and business growth
 Champion data-driven decision-making in Australia, using analytics to inform product,
marketing, customer and commercial strategies
 Represent Australia in global forums, contributing market insights to international
analytics frameworks, models, and customer understanding initiatives.
2. Customer Insights & Data Science
 Lead advanced customer analytics programs, including segmentation, personalization,
behavioral modelling, churn, lifetime value, and brand & experience diagnostics
 Guide the development of innovative methodologies, including the use of AI/ML, LLMs,
and experimentation to deepen customer understanding
 Ensure insights are actionable, clearly framed, and translate to compelling
recommendations for senior leaders.

3. Growth, Product & Marketplace Analytics
 Lead analytics across key initiatives that drive customer, product and business growth,
including program performance, product experience, marketplace health and commercial
outcomes.
 Partner with business, product and commercial leaders to evaluate performance,
quantify impact, identify optimization opportunities and guide prioritization.
 Develop and evolve experimentation frameworks - including test/design, incrementality
measurement and uplift modelling - to support innovation and continuous improvement
across the Australian business.
4. Executive-Level Storytelling & Communication
 Build compelling narratives and executive-ready presentations explaining the “why”
behind customer behavior, program performance, and science-led
 Regularly brief AU and International senior leaders on customer health, growth
opportunities, and market diagnostics.
5. Team Leadership & Capability Building
 Lead and mentor a diverse team of analysts in Australia as well as leveraging a group of
remote analysts in Bangalore
 Foster a culture of curiosity, scientific rigour, fast iteration, and operational excellence.
 Optimize resourcing, prioritization, and stakeholder workflows to maximize value
delivery.
What You Will Bring
Technical & Analytical Expertise
 Deep experience in customer analytics, marketplace analytics, or data science -
including segmentation, predictive modelling, attribution, experimentation, and
behavioral analysis
 Strong grounding in statistical methods, incrementality testing, and scientific thinking
 Experience evaluating ML models using rigorous metrics and frameworks is highly
valued
 Comfort guiding teams through advanced analytical approaches, even if not hands-on
day-to-day
 Technical literacy: SQL, statistical tools, Python/R familiarity, data visualization mastery;
Excel expertise required
Leadership & Communication
 Proven experience leading high-performing analytics teams and influencing cross-
functional peers
 Strong ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, compelling ways to senior
and executive audiences
 Demonstrated success working with C-level stakeholders and making data-driven
recommendations at pace.

Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (statistics, engineering, economics, computer
science, data science) or equivalent experience
● Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
● 12+ years of analytics or data science experience, including 5+ years leading teams
