Prototyping Architect, Prototyping and AI Customer Engineering (PACE)
AWS Global Sales drives adoption of the AWS cloud worldwide, enabling customers of all sizes to innovate and expand in the cloud. Our team empowers every customer to grow by providing tailored service, unmatched technology, and architecture guidance. We dive deep to understand each customer's unique challenges, then craft innovative solutions that accelerate their success. This customer-first approach is how we built the world's most adopted cloud. Join us and help us grow.
Build the future of AI innovation alongside AWS's most forward-thinking customers. The AWS Prototyping and AI Customer Engineering (PACE) team transforms ambitious ideas into working Generative AI and Agentic AI prototypes in days and weeks - not months - and we need world-class builders who can turn customer visions into reality. If you're passionate about full-stack development, love experimenting with AI technologies, and thrive on shipping prototypes that demonstrate what's possible with large language models, autonomous agents, and multi-agent systems, this is your opportunity to make history.
In this role, you'll work hands-on with customers to architect and build production-ready AI prototypes using the latest Generative AI technologies - from prompt engineering and RAG architectures to function calling, autonomous agents, and complex multi-agent orchestration. You'll leverage AI-driven development tools to write code faster, exploring agentic workflows where AI systems can reason, plan, use tools, and collaborate to solve complex problems. You'll be a full-stack developer comfortable with multiple languages and frameworks, combining modern application patterns with AWS AI services to rapidly deliver solutions that showcase the transformative potential of Generative AI and Agentic AI. This isn't traditional consulting - you'll be writing code, making architectural decisions about agent behaviors and LLM integrations, and creating breakthrough experiences that influence how organizations globally approach AI adoption.
Position requires travel - generally 25%
Key job responsibilities
Architect and build working Generative AI and Agentic AI prototypes directly with customers using AWS AI services (Bedrock, SageMaker, Q Developer) and cloud-native architectures, including autonomous agents, multi-agent systems, RAG architectures, and LLM-powered applications that demonstrate production-ready solutions
Leverage AI-driven development tools (Cursor, Kiro, Q Developer, Cline, Windsurf) to accelerate prototype development, implementing patterns like prompt engineering, function calling, agent orchestration, and tool use
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers on LLM selection, agent design patterns, agentic architectures, and AI adoption strategies, guiding them through complex technical decisions and trade-offs
Collaborate with Technical Program Managers and Design Technologists to deliver customer engagements on time, while partnering with AWS service teams to provide feedback and influence AI product roadmaps
Create and share reusable patterns and thought leadership through agent frameworks, code libraries, technical content, whitepapers, blogs, and conference presentations that accelerate Generative AI and Agentic AI adoption across the AWS customer base
A day in the life
Your morning starts with team standup where you and fellow Prototyping Architects align with your Technical Program Manager on customer momentum, breakthrough patterns, and hard problems at agentic AI's edge. Then into deep coding work building transformative agentic solutions, orchestrating multi-agent patterns integrated with AWS AI services. You make architectural decisions that drive measurable business outcomes: faster resolution, smarter recommendations, autonomous scaling. Mid-morning brings a strategic conversation with customer leadership on how agentic architectures power their business. Afternoon: architecting a retail shopping assistant with specialized agents, collaborating with Design Technologists. You document edge cases and patterns that become blueprints for future engagements. As day closes, you're context-switching between production code, architectural decisions, and translating innovation into strategic language for leadership. You're building solutions that illuminate the path for how enterprises adopt transformative AI.
