The HW Collectors team within the Analyzers and Debuggers Engineering Products group is looking for an experienced software engineer to join in the development of software tools for collecting and analyzing hardware platform power and performance data from the latest Intel CPU, GPU, NPU, and Platform Controller Hub (PCH) silicon.

Key aspects of this job include:

  • Being part of a team actively engaged with internal groups responsible for powering on new platforms and optimizing platform power and performance prior to product launch.
  • Helping define and implement platform power and performance analysis tools that are key to driving low power and high performance into Intel's latest platforms running both Windows and Linux-based operating systems.
  • Engaging with hardware platform architects to understand the latest monitoring hooks in new platforms and directly implementing support for them within the tool.
  • Working with Power and Performance (PnP) teams and application engineers (supporting OEMs and ISVs) to enable optimal customer system designs and understand needed extensions to the tools.
  • Discovering new techniques to help users quickly find and understand important power and performance issues when viewing collected metric data. Working hands-on with pre-production development systems and participating in a variety of automated testing and release infrastructure activities.
  • Participating in a diverse, Agile team of developers following the Scrum framework.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position.  Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a software focus area or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of work experience.
    • Computer architecture, software engineering, and operating systems.
    • Computer CPU architecture.
    • C/C++ and embedded programming/debugging, with the ability to start immediately as a developer.
    • Software development on both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with a software focus area or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of work experience.
  • Experience in the development of software analysis tools is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with computer GPU architecture.
  • Experience with x86 Model Specific Registers, Memory-Mapped I/O, and PCI Express is an added advantage.
  • Interest in low-level hardware telemetry registers and developing software to build metrics from them for analysis purposes.
  • Experience with software development for kernel modules and device drivers is an added advantage.

The Software Team drives customer value by enabling differentiated experiences through leadership AI technologies and foundational software stacks, products, and services. The group is responsible for developing the holistic strategy for client and data center software in collaboration with OSVs, ISVs, developers, partners and OEMs. The group delivers specialized NPU IP to enable the AI PC and GPU IP to support all of Intel's market segments. The group also has HW and SW engineering experts responsible for delivering IP, SOCs, runtimes, and platforms to support the CPU and GPU/accelerator roadmap, inclusive of integrated and discrete graphics.
