As a Network Implementation Engineer, you will be the initial point of our efforts to execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. You will work with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, all to position your team and organization for success.

Our metros are on the edge of our network where Google connects to its users. The Network Team is responsible for operating that network reliably and at scale. Our team owns the full life cycle of all space, power, and network assets in all of Google’s data centers and metro points of presence globally. From the foundation, we are involved from site acquisition to construction and are accountable for what space and power is delivered. We're involved in every facet of network delivery from architecture and design to installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

Responsibilities
- Manage escalated trouble calls and work closely with engineering, field technicians, and telecommunications carriers to resolve service issues. Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble-ticketing system.
- Perform scheduled configuration changes to network switches and routers, firewalls and wireless devices. Identify network issues and determine and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Participate in a rotating “on call” schedule with other members of the team including weekends.
- Provide quality documentation and deliver presentations about network issues, updates, troubleshooting techniques and network analysis etc.
- Execute deliverables on Operations/Engineering projects such as new product introduction (NPI), software qualifications, and coding/automation for operations.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Network certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE/CCDE/JNCIE/JNCIP) or equivalent practice experience.
- 3 years of experience with MPLS, VPN, routing protocols, ethernet switching, configuring enterprise-class routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience working with unix systems administration and network protocols troubleshooting.
- Experience with WAN technologies/protocols like MPLS, BGP, MACsec, IPsec, SDWAN, inter-domain IP Routing Policy, and TCP/IP.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Python, Bash or other scripting language.
