About the Team and the Role

We are seeking a Senior Program Manager to assist with the growth of eBay's program passionate about Responsible AI. We are looking for a candidate who will play a pivotal role in guiding our product and engineering teams to develop and deploy AI technologies that align with our Responsible AI standards and compliance requirements. This position will also influence how the program communicates with collaborators internally regarding operational and compliance metrics. Reporting to the Lead Program Manager for Responsible AI, you will take the lead on how the Responsible AI program communicates to the rest of eBay. This role requires a strategic problem solver who is proficient in the field of artificial intelligence, ethics, and risk management. 

What You Will Accomplish

  • Develop a training plan, including material preparation, to educate employees on AI ethics, development, and regulations.

  • Program Management, Monitoring and Reporting: Support the Responsible AI program’s internal operations and management. Track the team’s progress against our work plan. Coordinate regular updates to collaborators on operational performance and regulatory adherence indicators.  

  • RAI Governance Support: Support some RAI Governance activities, like managing RAI-related agenda items for the AI Governance Council and coordinating input from multiple stakeholders, at multiple levels of seniority.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure AI systems are designed and implemented in line with eBay’s ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Program Management, Computer or Data Science, Product Management, Ethics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in AI, technology ethics, risk management, or a similar field, with a focus on program management.

  • Proficient knowledge of AI technologies, ethical considerations, and regulatory environments.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing guidelines, training programs, and communication strategies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage partners at all levels.

  • Proven experience in effectively collaborating with various groups throughout a company.

  • Candidates with strong policy or compliance backgrounds combined with proven responsible AI experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with experience delivering strategic programs in partnership with teams across an organization. 

  • Demonstrated insight and cultural awareness when navigating critical ethical considerations.

  • Experience with product development processes, AI and data governance frameworks, or compliance processes.

  • Familiarity with large language models or generative AI technologies.

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$111,200 - $190,100

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
