We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Work with multiple teams of highly talented engineers and architects to design and develop highly scalable, unique customizable software product solutions that meet the needs of PayPal’s customers and stakeholders. Collaborate with leadership across Product, Architecture, Design, and Engineering to design, propose, discuss, and refine new features and functionality. Collaborate with other engineering teams, IT, and business stakeholders to analyze existing software architecture against business requirements to design and deliver innovative solutions that meet organizational needs. Communicate with stakeholders on technical standards, principles, methodologies, and trends for new software products and features. Enhance overall system operational characteristics by establishing best practices for code quality, reduction in tech debt, and building frameworks or shared techniques to improve engineering effectiveness. Identify opportunities for refactoring, Application Programming Interface (API) changes, solution designs, and other types of technical debt remediation. Influence management for driving technical decision-making for the right selection of technology by giving forthright, understandable, and actionable advice. Design and implement A/B tests, with approaches like data-based experiments, and track business metrics and KPIs throughout the software development lifecycle. Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus eight years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus ten years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
• Software Development Experience: Designing and developing large-scale software applications utilizing Object-Oriented Design principles, Java (version 11 and higher) and modern JavaScript (ES6 and higher) technologies including React.js. (5 years)
• Web Services Development: Specialized in creating RESTful APIs, SOAP web services and microservices to facilitate application integration. (5 years)
• Application Frameworks: Solid understanding of Struts and Spring Framework including Spring Boot and Spring MVC, contributing to the development of robust Java applications. (5 years)
• Cloud Technologies: Familiar with AWS services and the deployment of cloud-based applications. (5 years)
• Database Management Skills: Strong expertise in SQL and PL-SQL for effective database management and data manipulation, proficient in managing various databases including NoSQL and Relational Databases. Additionally, skilled in utilizing Amazon S3 for scalable and cost-effective storage and retrieval of large datasets, ensuring robust and efficient database performance. (5 years)
• Agile Methodologies: Experienced in Agile software development practices, enhancing project management and delivery efficiency. (5 years)
• Testing Frameworks: Test-driven development (TDD) using JUnit and Mockito to validate code functionality against software requirements, enhancing code quality and maintainability. (5 years)
• Containerization Technologies: Expertise in CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes (K8s) and related tools for harnessing containerization technologies to optimize application deployment and orchestration. (5 years)

San Jose, California | Salary: $264,514.00-333,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
