Job Summary:

We’re looking for strong subject matter expertise in Accounts Payable and proven experience in Automation, Process Improvement, and ERP transformation (preferably SAP S/4HANA).
This role will drive change and help design and implement best-in-class AP processes while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless vendor management

As an Accounts Payable Manager at PayPal, you’ll play a key role in ensuring payments to vendors on time, maintain strategic vendor relationships, and stringent controls to ensure accurate financial reporting & no cash leakage and drive cash flow improvement opportunities.
This role demands in depth AP Domain expertise with hands-on knowledge of ERP (SAP ECC & SAP HANA) & Ariba, US Tax, analytical skills, and leadership experience to strengthen PayPal’s financial function.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead several process workstreams through explorations, gap analysis, integration planning, execution, and problem solving
  • Identify finance-related risks and partner with cross-functional teams to mitigate the identified risks
  • Discuss finance/accounting concepts with others across the organization
  • Lead and drive execution of plans and influence where you do not have direct authority through strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactively engage, evaluate, and drive resolution of potential conflicts between various Finance and non-Finance functions
  • Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Work collaboratively with workstream leads and subject matter experts to arrive at risk-based approaches related to tactical execution steps
  • Comfort with problem solving and creative solutioning

Expected Qualifications:

  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oversee E2E Invoicing & payments activities to ensure accuracy & meet timelines  
  • Ensure compliance with accounting, tax, local and legal rules and resolve escalations
  • Ensure proper accounting and reporting of taxes as per local country regulations, including application of internal policies and SOX controls
  • Support the team in resolving all queries timely & accurately and maintaining vendor relationship
  • Drive cash optimization opportunities & collaborate with key stakeholders to address any issues & standardizations.
  • Oversee month-end close activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of accounting close.
  • Support escalatables resolution based on account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies and financial reporting standards.
  • Partner with P2P teams, Business, Treasury, IT and other finance teams to drive business outcomes
  • Lead or support special projects or system implementation initiatives to enhance financial processes and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and insights as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience, with 6+ years in Accounts Payable with 5+ years in leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or Post Graduation in Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable principles & high attention to detail
  • Expertise in SAP ERP (ECC & SAP HANA) and experience with accounting system implementations, enhancements, and optimizations to support AP operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements, optimize workflows, and enhance automation.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Tax, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage large data sets with speed and accuracy.
  • Strong communication, Conflict management, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills across regions and time zones.
  • People management skills i.e. attracting, retaining and developing a talented workforce incl. goal setting and performance management
