AlloyDB is a cornerstone of Google Cloud's database portfolio, providing an enterprise-grade, PostgreSQL-compatible transactional service designed for the most demanding workloads. By combining the familiarity of open-source front-ends with custom-built storage and query engines, AlloyDB delivers exceptional performance, availability, and security .

Our mission is to extend AlloyDB’s capabilities beyond standard GCP infrastructure to include on-premises systems, Kubernetes (e.g., GKE, OpenShift, GDC), VMs, and multi-cloud environments. We are focused on building "Platform 2.0"—a high-velocity, scalable foundation that ensures reliability and trust as we prepare for 10X customer growth.

In this role, you will work alongside executive and staff engineers who are experts in infrastructure, databases and distributed systems, offering significant opportunities for technical mentorship and growth.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Act as the Uber TL for the AlloyDB Platform, leading innovation across different environments, including GCP cloud and "AlloyDB everywhere" foundations like GKE (Kubernetes, GDC), to develop market-leading features.
  • Own and execute the "AlloyDB Everywhere" platform strategy for AlloyDB cloud and AlloyDB Omni, establishing a unified technical direction for both cloud-native and on-premise deployments .
  • Lead the design and execution of architectures capable of supporting 10X growth, ensuring the platform meets the highest standards for enterprise availability and scalability .
  • Provide high-level technical leadership and mentorship to a global team of executive engineers and technical leads, fostering a culture of excellence .
  • Apply AI to accelerate development velocity, automating toil, and provide assistive experiences that delight our customers.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience programming in C++.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., open source Postgres).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in designing and developing performance intensive systems with multithreading and synchronization.
  • Experience with Cloud development.

  • Experience with database disaster recovery, replication and migration.
