Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

In this role, you will drive the design, development, testing, and deployment of features across the ContribService stack. You will address issues in distributed systems, data storage (Spanner), serving, and writing high quality C++ code. You will collaborate with teammates and client teams to deliver reliable and efficient solutions, participate in design reviews, and contribute to the system's long-term health and roadmap.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Build production-ready, reliable, and secure systems at a very large scale, ensuring multi-tenant efficiency while optimizing for latency and cost.
  • Collaborate directly with product teams to power global services, including Gemini, Google Play Store, Google Maps infrastructure, and Google Search.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in C++ programming languages.
  • 2 years of experience working with spanner.
  • 2 years of experience with backend software development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in any one of these: pod, GoogleSQL, flume, or scaffolding.
