As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.

The North APAC Search and Gemini Partnerships team is seeking a specialist who can develop an understanding of local partner dynamics across key verticals (ex. Sports, Finance, Education, Entertainment, Social Impact (Climate and Crisis), etc.) to help scope and execute partnerships in Japan, and across North APAC.
In this role, you will be able to develop and evolve partnerships across existing and emerging sectors, bringing the ecosystem along as we drive an AI-first Search and Gemini experience. You will contribute to go-to-market plans, enablement programs, and ecosystem engagement for Google's newest AI-powered surfaces, in close collaboration with teams across Partnerships and other cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with multiple partners as a key contributor to Search and Gemini product goals. Manage existing partnerships, launch new relationships, drive new business opportunities, resolve business issues, and track metrics to identify trends.
  • Drive the partner experience to ensure agreement integration, including negotiating and finalizing agreement, executing account plans, pitching to partners, resolving partner issues, and advocating on behalf of the partner.
  • Influence and collaborate with teams across the organization (Product, Engineering, Legal, and other cross-functional teams) to help align resources and input to go-to-market strategy and partner initiatives.
  • Drive partner strategy, including prospecting for new partners and opportunities, conducting partner/industry research, and inputting to product strategy.
  • Provide insight, understanding, and leadership for country specific challenges and opportunities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in business development, partnerships, sales, management consulting, investment banking, financial technology (Fintech), strategy, or operations.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires communicating with clients and stakeholders locally and internationally.

  • Ability to drive execution, juggling multiple priorities and meeting timelines in a fluid environment.
  • Ability to build relationships along with excellent partnership development skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity along with excellent problem-solving skills to translate problems into project opportunities aligned with evolving business priorities.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Mandarin and Korean, to engage and support Mandarin and Korean customers in this region.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, and build relationships with cross-functional teams.
