As a Product Design Engineer, you’ll design the next generation of Pixel phones. You will drive the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts while working in a manufacturing and product-oriented development environment. You will help manage varied responsibilities, and work with the product design team that balances comfort, performance, and appearance in an innovative and harmonious design that complements and enables the technology. You’ll collaborate with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams such as Electrical Engineering, Antenna, Industrial Design, Reliability, Operations, Camera, and Product to define and deliver excellent products.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design a subsystem and/or multiple individual parts from concept to production.
  • Collaborate with suppliers of subsystems and/or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.
  • Identify the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and develop corrective actions.
  • Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and aesthetics.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
  • Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience shipping consumer products.
  • Experience with manufacturing methods used in consumer products.
  • Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter.
