About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Manager, Supply Chain Process Transformation to own how OpenAI’s Data Center and Manufacturing supply chains operate at scale across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, deployment, and financial settlement.
This role owns how work flows through the supply chain, not just the tools. You will be accountable for transforming manual and vendor-driven execution into standardized, automated, system-driven operations across Contract manufacturing, Direct procurement, Inventory and logistics, Data center deployment, Financial and compliance controls
You will serve as the process architect and execution leader for how OpenAI plans, buys, builds, tracks, and pays for physical infrastructure globally. You will lead the transition from spreadsheet-based, vendor-managed execution to ERP-grade, system-of-record workflows that support high-volume, capital-intensive, and globally distributed operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built and scaled real-world supply chains across data centers, contract manufacturing, and hardware programs—and knows how to embed those operations into modern ERP and planning platforms.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We operate on a hybrid model (three days per week in the office) and offer relocation assistance.
You’ll be responsible for:
End-to-End Operating Model
Define how planning, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and finance connect into a single, controlled system of record
Replace fragmented handoffs and spreadsheets with standardized, system-native workflows
Establish global process standards across regions, suppliers, and internal teams
Process Transformation at Scale
Replace manual and exception-driven execution with automated, auditable processes
Build closed-loop execution across supplier commits, production status, logistics events, and financial posting
Define and enforce global operating standards for suppliers, regions, and internal stakeholders
Execution & Leadership
Drive continuous improvement of supply chain operations using Oracle Fusion Supply Chain and integrated platforms
Lead cross-functional execution across Data Center Operations, Hardware Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and external partners
Serve as the go-to leader for how supply chain processes scale as OpenAI grows
Represent OpenAI’s Enterprise Platform Team in supplier and contract-manufacturer integrations
System Ownership
Translate operational reality into ERP-grade workflows across procurement, planning, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, order management, and PLM
Partner with Supply Chain Systems, Finance Systems, and Data Engineering to deliver One source of truth, End-to-end traceability, Automated financial and compliance controls
Eliminate black-box execution by driving real-time visibility and accountability through upstream and downstream system integrations (e.g., ERP, Anaplan)
Operational Excellence
Ensure processes and systems meet security, data governance, and regulatory requirements
Establish change management, testing, and control frameworks to support stable releases and business continuity
Drive automation and scalability using AI-first design principles
We’re looking for someone with:
12+ years of experience in supply chain systems, including 5+ years in leadership roles
APICS or equivalent SCM certification
Proven success leading ERP or large-scale supply chain transformations
Deep data center and hardware supply chain expertise (planning, procurement, PLM, manufacturing, order management)
Experience operating in fast-growing, globally distributed environments
Strong background in system integration, data architecture, and analytics
Familiarity with compliance, governance, and scale-driven operational controls
A track record of building and mentoring high-performing teams
