In this role, you will be leading the initiative for growth using algorithms and optimization techniques.

Our team is responsible for the entire subscriber journey, from plan selection and device activation to providing award-winning coverage around the world. Our team's deep expertise spans cellular network operations, iOS and Android app development, and subscription business operations.

The Fi team applies Google's AI to solve complex, real-world problems - from AI-enhanced call audio to AI billing summaries to AI-powered cohort analysis - that helps Google Fi customers stay reliably connected to what’s most important to them.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable infrastructure and products.
  • Drive and participate in the design, development, and delivery of AI/ML and agentic solutions for the product.
  • Lead engineering excellence on the commerce platform, focusing on performance, reliability, monitoring, and testing.
  • Define long-term strategy, drive technical direction, and guide the team to execute projects from ambiguous requirements to high-impact deliverables.
  • Collaborate with data science, product management, and other cross-functional leaders to define the technical roadmap for the product.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Kotlin, or Python codebases, and front-end experience including TypeScript or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience building end-user-facing products.
  • 3 years of experience in ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • Experience working with cross-functional leaders including product managers, data scientists, and UX designers across the globe.
  • Excellent technical leadership skills, with the ability to define ideas, strategies, and priorities.
  • Excellent technical communication and collaboration skills.
