Operations Specialist, Google Play, Trust and Safety
Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. The User Safety Threat Investigations (USTI) team is the organisation's proactive threat intelligence engine. Its core mandate is to fundamentally shift the focus from reactive clean-up to durable, systemic harm prevention across the Play’s most critical junctures. We serve as the platform’s immune system, proactively discovering specific patterns and instances to expose emerging threats.

A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$194,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Own the product management life-cycle, coordinating SMEs to investigate root causes and develop final reports for the Leadership Team.
- Orchestrate cross-functional partners to translate incident lessons into tracked, accountable action items within Operations, Policy, Product, and Engineering roadmaps.
- Oversee the mandatory governance process for bulk actions, ensuring forensic precision and cross-functional sign-off to minimize negative impacts.
- Develop frameworks to measure and report on the health of the threat-prevention lifecycle, providing visibility into the ROI of durable fixes and the team’s progress against multi-quarter Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
Utilize systems to formalize a post-mortem to fix pipeline, ensuring every identified vulnerability leads to a sustainable improvement.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in Trust and Safety, Operations, Program Management, or a related Risk Management field.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects or investigations that include stakeholders.
- Experience in report writing and delivering updates to leadership or executive-level audiences.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience managing a Post-Mortem or Incident Management program, including the tracking of long-term remediation and systemic fixes.
- Experience in a Trust and Safety domain (e.g., App Stores, Content Moderation, or Fraud) with a focus on forensic analysis or threat intelligence.
- Experience working with data analytics and statistical methods to identify improvement opportunities and propose scalable solutions.
- Ability to translate technical vulnerabilities into business risks and strategic roadmap items for Product and Engineering teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.
