Research Engineer, AdsAI, Google Ads

The AdsAI team within Search Ads Quality applies advanced AI techniques including LLMs, Agentic AI, ML, NLP, and Multimodal modeling to solve critical issues and enhance the search advertising ecosystem.
In this role, you will design AI innovations to enhance core Search Ads products and drive launches. You will also conduct research into novel techniques and capabilities, contributing to publications in leading academic conferences.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Solve problems faced by Ads Product Area (PA), and implement solutions that meet the high quality and latency bar needed in Ads. Partner with our teams in Ads, and research to achieve the goal.
- Develop and bring AI/ML solutions to Ads products.
- Partner with Ads and Research teams to deliver technology that improves products and drives business impact.
- Deliver solutions that leverage existing technologies while engineering novel components to bridge technical gaps.
- Collaborate with immediate, adjacent, and partner teams across Ads and Research to achieve unified goals.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 1 year of experience with GenAI techniques (e.g., LLMs, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) or with GenAI-related concepts (e.g., language modeling, computer vision).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
