Global Commodity Manager, Thermal
Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to commodity strategies and partner with the leadership to negotiate agreements while maintaining industry expertise in data center thermal solutions.
- Co-lead cross-functional teams to drive supplier selection, multi-sourcing efforts, and part qualifications for new platform introductions.
- Manage supplier performance regarding cost, quality, and delivery through weekly reviews, scorecard assessments, and the development of key metric dashboards.
- Oversee material management, acting as the primary escalation point for shortages between internal teams and suppliers.
- Implement supply chain improvements and process optimizations to drive technology alignment and operational efficiency.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Technical or Engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
- Experience in Thermal category or commodity management, contract negotiation and supplier development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with global thermal supply base, server infrastructure, and thermal management from chip to infrastructure, including next-gen cooling technologies.
- Experience in business intelligence platform dashboards combined with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguous, fluid environments and resolve conflicts while working cross-functionally with internal and external partners.
- Ability to be a detail-oriented team player.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Excellent leadership and business acumen skills, with the ability to drive change and decisions across multiple functions.
