Principal Consultant
Are you passionate about Oracle database technology as well as cloud computing? We are looking for highly capable, self-motivated, and independent Database Administrators located in India to join our consulting team. Our DBAs support mission-critical databases, available both on-premises and in the Cloud. In this role, you will organize and manage Oracle Database instances to meet customer and business objectives and ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expert understanding of Oracle Database Architecture (12c, 19c), including RAC and ASM.
- Oversee administration of databases throughout development and production lifecycles.
- Design and develop logical and physical database architectures based on customer requirements.
- Mentor and support mid and junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and skills growth.
- Perform all aspects of database administration: installation, upgrades, builds, object sizing/creation, users, backup/recovery, patching, monitoring, data exports/imports, and SQL Loader.
- Manage ASM storage migration, including creation, rebalancing, and alteration of diskgroups.
- Install and configure Data Guard Broker, conduct testing for all failover scenarios.
- Engage directly with external customer and internal service teams to gather requirements and address issues.
- Prepare business requirement documents (BRDs), high-level (HLD), and low-level (LLD) design documents.
- Investigate & troubleshoot issues reported by customers, partners, and internal users.
- Conduct strategic analysis of DB infrastructure and recommend improvements to meet business needs and future capacity planning.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle servers in standalone and RAC environments.
- Implement high availability (HA) solutions using Oracle Real Application Clusters.
- Implement disaster recovery solutions using Oracle Standby Databases and Data Guard.
- Perform cross-platform migrations, and migrate schemas using Exp/Imp and Oracle Data Pump.
- Generate and analyze AWR and ADDM reports for performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Monitor data backup processes and perform recovery when necessary.
- Proactively study and document issues affecting the database production infrastructure.
- Leverage AI and Machine Learning tools or techniques for proactive database monitoring, anomaly detection, performance optimization, and automation of routine database tasks.
- Develop scripts (Shell/Perl/PLSQL) to automate tasks and monitor database performance, continuously evaluating opportunities for further AI-driven enhancements.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, BE, MCA, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Deep core Oracle Database knowledge (12c, 19c), with expertise in RAC and ASM.
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL skills, as well as Shell or Perl scripting for automation.
- Working knowledge of Oracle Fusion Middleware (e.g., WebLogic).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms: OCI, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager for database and infrastructure monitoring.
- Up-to-date understanding of best practices in database management, security, and compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Optional/Desirable:
- Experience with AI/ML-driven database monitoring, alerting, or workload automation solutions.
- Certifications in Oracle, Cloud, or ITIL frameworks.
