The ideal candidate has deep experience in application software engineering and a passion for building polished, performant consumer products at scale. This position requires a strong leader who can balance technical excellence with team development, and who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering teams responsible for the News, Stocks, Weather, and Books apps across iOS, macOS, and watchOS.
- Drive the design, development, and delivery of new features from concept through launch, ensuring high quality and on-time execution.
- Own and evolve shared client frameworks used across Info Apps and the broader platform, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
- Partner cross-functionally with design, product marketing, server engineering, and platform teams to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous growth.
- Establish and uphold engineering best practices, code quality standards, and architectural consistency across the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, and 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in an engineering management role.
- Proven track record of shipping high-quality consumer-facing software on Apple platforms (iOS, macOS, or watchOS).
- Strong technical foundation in Swift and/or Objective-C, with a deep understanding of Apple's frameworks and platform capabilities.
- Experience managing multi-platform client engineering teams, including navigating the unique constraints and opportunities of each platform.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex, cross-functional feature development from inception to delivery.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working effectively across engineering, design, and product disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or owning shared frameworks or platform infrastructure consumed by multiple teams is a plus.
- Familiarity with content-rich application domains such as media, publishing, or financial data is a plus.
- Experience with performance optimization for resource-constrained environments such as watchOS is a plus.
- Background as a hands-on individual contributor prior to moving into engineering management is a plus.
