Join the Oracle Health and Analytics Cloud Performance Engineering (PSR) team as a Consulting Member of Technical Staff. In this senior technical position, you will be at the forefront of driving the Performance, Scalability, Availability, and Reliability of Oracle’s mission-critical Cloud Services. 

You will oversee all aspects of the software development lifecycle with a focus on performance, including architecture/design reviews, performance benchmarking and analysis, capacity sizing, and production issue resolution, all aimed at maximizing customer satisfaction and success.

Work is highly complex, requiring advanced technical and business acumen in your area of specialization. As a leading contributor, you will mentor others and provide technical direction to the team.

The team engages across all aspects of software development lifecycle from performance perspective including architecture and design reviews, performance benchmarking and analysis, sizing, production performance resolutions and others to ensure customer satisfaction and success. 

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.

Scope & Required Experience: (IC5)

As an IC5, you will address challenges with company-wide or industry-wide impact, operating at an expert level.

  • 10+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience

  • Expertise in Cloud Computing and Enterprise Software Architecture

  • Proficiency with Java/J2EE and systems engineering; Python is a plus

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proven experience in microservices architecture and software development

  • Hands-on experience with load testing, profiling, and analysis tools

  • Strong track record diagnosing and resolving performance, scaling, and stability issues

  • Competency in developing software with AI/ML, prompt engineering, NLP, or speech technologies

  • Familiarity with modern cloud technologies: Kubernetes, Kafka, caching, ElasticSearch, Big Data, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of system technologies: Linux, Docker, virtualization, compute, networking, etc.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or Computer Science

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership: Influence cloud services architecture with a performance-driven approach; set and evaluate standard practices.

  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks at all system tiers; collaborate with Development Leads/Architects to design and implement code optimizations.

  • Deep Analysis: Use profiling tools to conduct in-depth performance analyses and guide optimization opportunities. Mentor team members on optimization, novel algorithm design, and architectural standards.

  • Innovation: Drive the development of new products, services, and processes; champion changes to improve existing technical ecosystems.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical consulting and mentorship to team members, ensuring high standards in optimization and design.

  • Strong algorithms/design skills and excellent written and verbal communication are essential for articulating complex technical ideas to leadership.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the software engineering division: 

  • Lead definition and evaluation of performance practices and methodologies.

  • Influence the design and architecture of cloud services from a performance standpoint.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot bottlenecks to ensure stability and scalability.

  • Lead development of products/services/processes at the forefront of technology; recommend and justify major improvements

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes.
