The Wallet, Payments & Commerce team is responsible for bringing ground-breaking financial services to consumers with a vision to replace the physical wallet and help people live financially healthier lives. Apple Pay enables an easy, secure, and private way to pay online.
Description
We are looking for an outstanding Business Development professional who drives initiatives with autonomy and makes a meaningful impact.
In this position, you will be responsible for the adoption and growth of Apple Pay eCommerce in Japan and South Korea. You will build and nurture strategic partnerships with eCommerce merchants, Payment Service Providers, Processors, and other key industry players to deliver a seamless and secure payment experience to users.
This is a full-time role within the Wallet, Payments, and Commerce team, based in our Tokyo office. Some domestic travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Work closely and effectively with a select number of strategic eCommerce platforms and merchants, Payment Service Providers, and Acquires to enable Apple Pay for more users, in more places
- Participate internally on cross-functional teams to define partners, product requirements, negotiation strategies, market nuances, and go-to-market launch programs
- Identify, build, and strengthen strategic pipelines of merchants and prospective merchants, navigate merchant landscapes to identify key decision-makers, and influence outcomes
- Onboarding merchants in partnership with the Apple Pay Technical Specialists to implement an Apple Pay integration that provides a great customer experience
- Continually manage partnerships with merchants to deliver new feature improvements and ongoing support to drive their trial and usage
- Provide regular communications to internal teams regarding merchant partnership strategy and results.
- Identify and uncover new growth opportunities that build an exciting customer experience
- Analyze market trends and Apple Pay eCommerce progress in Japan and South Korea to inform strategies and priorities
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven account management or business development experience within payments ecosystem
- Deep knowledge and familiarity with the eCommerce merchants, Payment Service Providers, and Acquirer landscape
- Fluent oral and written communication and presentation skills in both Japanese and English.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, influencing, conflict resolution, organizational, and decision-making skills
- A clear understanding of a great customer experience online and what differentiates Apple Pay from other payment methods
- Highly skilled at presenting ideas and acquiring support based on an analytical approach and steadfast attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Korean is a plus
- Business Development or Partnership experience in building large and complex partnerships in Japan is a plus.
- Direct experience working with various online merchant segments, Payment Service Providers, payment schemes, and processors is a plus
- Ability to handle directional changes and prioritize a portfolio of initiatives to ensure project success and drive impact
- Willingness to learn new technologies and keen interest in the payment space and its developments.
- Self-starter and results-oriented, with a proven track record of building lasting relationships
- Team worker with a proven track record of working with initiatives both within and across functions
