Senior Software Engineer, Android, Auto Developer Platforms
The Android Auto team is building next level experiences in cars. A critical component of our strategy is enabling developers to build applications for automotive platforms that are optimized for drivers.
The Car App Library team is responsible for building the frameworks that make developers job easier by abstracting hardware variability between cars and providing solutions that are driver distraction aware.
We are looking to expand the range of applications that can be enabled in cars, and we are looking for engineers that can bridge the gap between the system capabilities and the needs of developers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the architecture and development of the Car App Library, a cross platform environment to build automotive applications.
- Build understanding and expertise on automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and app developer needs.
- Define and use metrics to validate the impact of the work you do.
- Collaborate closely with other disciplines, internal partners such as core Android and external ones such as our automotive manufacturer partners.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in Kotlin.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience in developing accessible technologies.
