In this highly visible role, our Manufacturing Design Engineers (MDE) are responsible for the development and implementation of high precision mechanical fabrication processes in a high volume environment for Apple Mac Products.
Description
Apple MDEs are extraordinary engineers that provide end to end manufacturing and process solutions for key design features. This includes manufacturing process development and capability (includes incorporating all aspects of equipment, consumables, key parameters, process setup, and qualification), selection and/or design of manufacturing equipment, automation, and strategic R&D.

Responsibilities
- Actively engage in product design, collaborating with the PD team in the US and China to optimize design, ensuring the realization of design intent
- Collaborate with Cupertino-based MDE and cross-functional team at Apple to manage project, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products on schedule
- Collaborate with suppliers in development of manufacturing processes for Apple product
- Conduct trials or DOEs to develop and optimize manufacturing process to meet quality and cost requirements
- Partner with suppliers to design and build equipment and fixtures for Apple product manufacturing, including smart automation lines featuring closed-loop control and digital integration
- Leverage statistical methods and data analytics to unlock value from data, optimizing processes and quality; support suppliers in enhancing digital production-management systems and drive smart manufacturing and digital transformation
Minimum Qualifications
- Specializing in mechanical engineering, familiar with GD&T, mechanical design & manufacturing processes
- Specialized in statistics and data analysis, with strong expertise in leveraging analytical skills to examine manufacturing process data for root cause analysis, process optimization and data-driven decision-making
- Good at communication, with the ability to deliver information clearly and effectively. Fluent in English
- A collaborative team player, dedicated to supporting others and fostering an environment that enables collective success
Preferred Qualifications
- Experienced in applying statistical knowledge to real-world manufacturing scenarios, including Design of Experiments (DOE), product quality control, and process improvement
- A quick learner with a strong willingness to explore and acquire new knowledge, even beyond familiar areas of expertise
