Amazon's dynamic Tax Department is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Foreign Direct Tax Reporting & Compliance Team in Japan. As part of our fast-paced, innovative team, you'll play a crucial role in managing worldwide tax reporting across Japan and the APAC region while working with diverse stakeholders globally.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead end-to-end direct tax compliance and reporting for Japan and other APAC countries
  • Manage statutory financial statement reporting under local GAAP and US GAAP worldwide tax provision
  • Guide teams through tax authorities audits and controversy matters
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and manage strategic tax planning initiatives
  • Research and document tax positions
  • Spearhead process automation and digital transformation projects
  • Shape global standard procedures for tax compliance and reporting

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm
  • Business level or above in both Japanese and English language
  • Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
  • Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards
  • Experience with tax modeling in Excel-based models or other similar programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, or J.D.
  • Certified Tax Accountant (Zeirishi)
