This position is based in China for the management equipment quality, and auditing of sophisticated equipment and facilities in a high volume worldwide manufacturing environment. Working multi-functionally in a team environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for the quality and reliability of equipment to the end-user from multiple suppliers.
Description
In this role, you will partner with equipment supplier and Apple technical team to act as the team’s representative to ensure the proper dissemination of specs and requirements, assess supplier capabilities and readiness for manufacturing, identify critical to quality items on each equipment, track and drive day-to-day quality control of equipment ensuring compliance to spec through equipment spot checks, and aid with the proper shipment of equipment to the end-user.
You will be able to clearly and concisely report on the status of the supplier readiness and project health to the multi-functional team and executive management team while thoughtfully identifying and calling out critical issues which may affect the quality.
Focus on supplier factory preparations, critical issues, clear communication and intensive spot and outgoing inspection during engineering design and validation cycles for new programs as well as during production ramp.
Support the Global Supply Manager in the development and execution of comprehensive equipment support contracts.
Responsibilities
- Key Responsibilities:
- - Partner with equipment suppliers and Apple’s technical team to align on quality control specs and requirements, assess supplier capabilities, and validate readiness for MP roll out
- - Define and implement Quality plan through DFM and SOP for new features and projects at supplier and supervise the execution of the program through ramp
- - Provide clear, concise reports on supplier readiness and critical quality/compliance issues to stakeholders and executive management
- - Oversee supplier factory preparations, quality control, and intensive outgoing inspections during new program design, validation, and production ramp-up
- - Drive automation of supplier Quality Management Systems (QMS) using new technologies, integrating customized quality control criteria into standardized processes.
- - Drive vendor performance assessment through scorecard system.
- - Quality control criteria update based on engineering changes.
- Secondary Tasks:
- - Support new vendors in establishing and implementing QMS with ongoing monitoring of execution.
- - Drive vendors to develop efficient, accurate quality and compliance reports quality continuous improvement.
- - Audit vendor regular maintenance activities to ensure equipment performance and sustained compliance with quality standards.
- - Partner with TechOps FACA and drive actions plans to equipment quality related issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, automation, or related fields)
- Proven experience with 3C customized capital equipment or high-precision components (e.g., robots, vision systems, measurement tools)
- Strong adaptability to navigate ambiguous scenarios and dynamic project demands
- Technical curiosity with hands-on experience in equipment specifications and quality validation
- Exceptional conflict resolution and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications
- Quality management experience in customized manufacturing or equipment supply chains
- Experience in massive data analysis, coding and machine learning would be a plus
- Experience of leveraging AI or emerging technologies to enhance work efficiency and quality processes
