You will work with teams to help them identify focus areas, run experiments, analyze data, and develop tools to help achieve efficiency while maintaining a great user experience.

Description

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to manage the Platform Productization team, overseeing the design, development, and deployment of automation tools and systems that transform complex hardware specifications into production-ready software builds. You will be responsible for building and mentoring a world-class engineering team, setting technical direction, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders across hardware, firmware, and software organizations. Your team will play a critical role in enabling faster, more reliable product delivery by creating efficient, scalable, and repeatable systems. This position requires both technical expertise in low-level systems and proven leadership capabilities in managing complex engineering projects and diverse technical talent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers focused on platform productization, test automation, and tooling development
  • Define and execute the technical roadmap for productization automation systems, aligning with broader organizational goals and product timelines
  • Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable automation frameworks, ensuring best practices in software development and quality
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams to understand requirements and influence early design decisions
  • Establish and track key quality metrics, ensuring high standards throughout the software delivery lifecycle
  • Manage project priorities, resource allocation, and dependencies across multiple product launches
  • Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership on progress, risks, and strategic initiatives
  • Drive adoption of modern development practices, tools, and technologies across the organization
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of critical infrastructure supporting Apple's platform productization efforts

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a track record of building and developing technical talent
  • Strong technical background in low-level systems, including computer architecture and Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience with systems programming languages (C, C++) and scripting languages (Python)
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-phase technical projects from conception to launch
  • Deep understanding of software quality practices, test automation frameworks, and CI/CD systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across organizations and influence without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience making technical trade-off decisions under constraints
  • Experience with source control management (Git) and modern software development workflows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in firmware, embedded systems, or hardware/software integration domains
  • Background in Apple silicon, ARM architecture, or other SoC platforms
  • Hands-on experience with automation platforms such as Django, Dagster, Kubernetes, or similar orchestration tools
  • Knowledge of database systems (Postgres, MySQL) and distributed systems architecture
  • Track record of building or scaling automation infrastructure and developer tools
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and leading teams in fast-paced environments
  • Previous experience in a quality engineering or test automation leadership role
  • Strong data-driven approach to decision making and quality measurement
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and operational excellence

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $188,200 and $325,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
