Description
Operations Reliability Engineers are responsible for guiding development and operations teams toward generating reliable designs for Apple's new technology components, modules, and overall products. We achieve this objective by blending deep engineering knowledge with advanced data analytics.
This includes analyzing large-scale datasets, creating early warning systems, and building new data platforms to identify high-risk failure modes early in the design life cycle and find the best path towards mitigation before ramp.
Responsibilities
- Investigate ways to utilize big data and machine learning to enhance reliability testing and create new early warning systems.
- Leverage latest data tools and platforms to drive continuous improvement
- Drive data-driven decisions on reliability risks during product ramps, analyzing test results to identify failure modes and recommend validated corrective actions.
- Synthesize post-launch data from sustaining and AppleCare teams to drive targeted improvements in factory detection, testing protocols, and future product designs.
- Own root cause analysis by partnering with Failure Analysis engineers, ensuring data integrity from issue identification through to resolution.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science / Statistics / Data Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Reliability, Materials, Optical, Industrial or similar), MS/PhD is preferred
- Proficiency in using programming language, familiar with digitization, database, data pipeline and process automation (Python, SQL, Tableau etc.)
- Familiarity with common machine learning models, generative AI and AI tool development
- Proficient in English and Chinese
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building database, factory data digitization, building platform and apply AI tool for work efficiency improvements
- Knowledge of reliability models, risk assessment methods, accelerated test models, and industry test standards, strong statistical and data analytics skills
- Understanding of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) logic and experience with MES systems is plus
