Regional Regulatory Compliance Engineer

The Regulatory Compliance team ensures every product meets global regulatory requirements while maintaining excellent performance.
In this role, you will be responsible for all Apple product regulatory compliance activities in Taiwan and Asia Pacific (APAC) region. You will also be influencing Taiwan and APAC countries’ standards/regulations and working out the certification plans for new technologies/new products to allow Apple products to be launched in Taiwan and APAC region.
Description
You will work together with a team of highly skilled project managers, test engineers and developers – both local and remote.
You need to preempt all upcoming standards/regulations that impact Apple products and have strong connections with Taiwan and APAC regulators and be able to influence countries’ standards and regulations by direct advocacy and/or through industry associations.
You also need to work out the certification requirements and test plans for new technologies and new products. The candidate needs to have strong RF test/certification experience in BT/WLAN/NFC/UWB/WPT/GSM/UMTS/ LTE/5G/MSS.
Responsibilities
- Manage/engage external ministries/regulators/certification bodies/agents to be updated on the latest/upcoming standards/regulations in Taiwan and APAC region – including label, manual, RF/Safety/EMC/SAR standards etc.
- Attend RF/Safety/EMC/SAR etc. technical standards meetings.
- Communicate standards/regulations changes effectively to internal cross-function team, assess impact for Apple products and lead cross-function team to ensure compliance.
- Influence and advocate ministries/regulators to favour Apple’s design.
- Generate test and certification plan for new technologies and new products.
- Perform RF/Safety/EMC/SAR certification testing and debugging in country.
- Optimize and obtain regulatory compliance certifications in region on time.
- Manage the market surveillance and field escalation.
- Collaborate effectively between standard engineering, test engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering internally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong relationships with Taiwan and APAC region’s regulators, like NCC, BSMI etc.
- Experience in influencing regulations/standards changes in Taiwan and APAC region.
- Deep understanding of wireless technology and RF test experience in BT/WLAN/NFC/UWB/WPT/GSM/UMTS/LTE/5G/MSS.
- Familiar with RF test instruments.
- Bachelor degree EE/Communication Eegineering required.
- 5+ years of Regulatory compliance engineer experience.
- Solid planning and excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English, Mandarin and any other APAC local languages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with WW and regional regulatory compliance requirements.
- Masters degree EE/Communication Eegineering.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
- Ability to work collaboratively with external test labs and certification bodies.
- Ability to effectively manage complex and/or ambiguous situations.
- Ability to effectively influence others and drive for desired results.
- Self-motivated.
- Proactive and able to be firm with external parties.
