Description
The Metal Tooling team is responsible for the technical interface between Apple's product design groups and our suppliers, driving the development of cutting-edge metal forming and forging tooling processes.
In this role, you will support senior engineers in vendor and project management, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the metal tooling landscape. Your contributions will include building a metal tooling platform to streamline the management of vendor-provided project information, such as schedules, issue tracking, and shipping details. You will also actively participate in stamping/forging automation projects and collaborate on the development of AI solutions for metal tooling.
You will learn metal forming, automation, and artificial intelligence skill. Learning how to work with a world-class engineering team and contribute to it. Enhance your communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Responsibilities
- Tooling Design & Fabrication: Contribute to the tooling design and fabrication process, using big data to assist vendors in building AI tools for design and trial optimization, ultimately reducing design and trial time.
- Supplier Collaboration: Work closely with our suppliers to develop new metal process tooling, processing techniques, and quality specifications that meet the stringent geometric and cosmetic requirements of Apple products.
- Platform Development for Efficiency: Utilize Apple's internal tools to build a platform that automates schedule alerts, identifies potential risks, and facilitates vendor performance comparisons, significantly improving work efficiency.
- Automation Enhancement: Develop and implement AIML solutions to enhance automation capabilities in stamping/forging lines, focusing on cosmetic/dimensional defect detection and enabling machine/tool self-decision making & self-adaptive & Auto tooling maintenance through big data analysis.
- Predictive Modeling: Leverage AIML tools to create predictive models that identify potential cosmetic/dimensional issues based on incoming raw material data, tool status, equipment performance, and lubrication parameters.
- AI-Powered Tooling Development: Learn Apple's AIML platform and explore innovative solutions to integrate it with stamping/forging lines and tooling fabrication shops. Collaborate with vendors and senior engineers to develop AI applications for metal tooling.
