Environment & Supply Chain Innovation Program Manager
Summary
Apple is looking for candidates with experience in social responsibility auditing, monitoring, and capability building, familiar with China supply chains and experience working with suppliers in China. The candidate will also have solid experience in program management in labor and human resource management, environment, health and safety, energy and carbon solution programs.
This individual will report to the Environment & Supply Chain Innovation (ESCI) Supplier Readiness and Development Regional Manager. This position is based in Shenzhen/Shanghai, China.
Description
SUPPLIER ENGAGEMENT & RISK MITIGATION
- Manage any pre-audit activities and awareness training with suppliers to increase supplier awareness of Apple Supplier Code of Conduct audits
- Conduct Apple Supplier Code of Conduct audits of Apple’s suppliers and sub-tier suppliers to ensure compliance with Apple Supplier Code of Conduct and other required international labor, social, health and safety, environmental regulations and/or standards
- Manage suppliers’ corrective action plans and follow through verification audits in order to close out corrective action plans in a timely manner
- Conduct targeted risk assessment, mitigation, and education programs to new manufacturing facilities & expansions to ensure business continuity and set the foundation for sustained CoC performance
- Lead risk mitigation programs at strategic suppliers to potential labor and EHS risks at supply chain
- Develop suppliers’ capabilities to establish a management system for continuous improvement
PROJECT/PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Lead and support labor and environment related programs as needed to improve workers’ experience in Apple supply chain
- Manage third party auditor training & communication to ensure good understanding of Apple expectations
- Effectively communicate and partner with suppliers to improve supplier performance that is beneficial to workers and the environment
- Create and continuously enhance the tools to support program execution and effectiveness
- Collect, maintain and present data relevant to program effectiveness and measurable impact and indicators
- Study/research on emerging issues at supply chain and then help the team to make informative strategy on potential issues
BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP
- Work with the relevant ESCI team and cross functional team to resolve potential issues
- Partner with internal business partners such as subject matter expert for capability building projects, providing information as needed
- Educate Apple employees in ESCI programs, practices and standards as needed
- Support other program teams with data requests and guidance requests around labor & human rights and environmentally preferable operational or procurement decisions
Minimum Qualifications
- 6+ years prior full-time relevant work experience in social responsibility audits, health & safety, environmental management, and/or supplier responsibility, preferably with a large corporation and/or consulting firm
- Minimum BA/BS degree, with understanding and/or educational background in Corporate Social Responsibility or Sustainability
- Rich experience with factory operations, monitoring, auditing, and remediation; Experience or knowledge of technology sector desired
- Familiar with China supply chain and have experience in working with suppliers in China
- Fluent in English and Mandarin - both written and verbal
