Description
As a Home Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of Apple's next-generation Home products. You will serve as a critical link between our US-based Product Design team and our manufacturing partners, ensuring the flawless execution of our design vision.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product Design team members to define, develop, and validate mechanical design
- Partner cross-functionally with other design teams in early phase of product architecture design
- Translate in-depth engineering research into comprehensive and reliable design outcomes.
- Establish mechanical design requirements including but not limited to dimensional tolerance, structural performance, material & finish, manufacturing process and regulatory requirements
- Lead coordination with cross-functional NPI teams to ensure a successful transition from design to mass production.
- Manage suppliers and contract manufacturers to execute engineering studies, validations, and conduct statistical analysis to drive data-based decisions.
- Take ownership of the mechanical design and issue resolution throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3+ year experience in product design and manufacturing engineering.
- Proficient in written and verbal English.
- Strong design skill - 3D CAD skill (NX preferred), 2D drafting and GD&T
- Solid Mechanical fundamental - statics, manufacturing, material science and thermal
- Proven ability to work independently under high pressure and tight schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) knowledge and tool
- Experience with engineering material properties and selection
- Demonstrated ability in designing for manufacturing (eg. Molding, stamping, CNC).
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (eg. JMP).
- Experience in team work with contract manufacturer (CM) partners.
- Full development cycle experience with consumer electronic product
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 60% to support product development.
