Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Engineer to join our Ophthalmic Precision Optics team in the cutting-edge field of 3D printing ophthalmic lenses. As a key member of our Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our 3D printing platforms and products quality, as well as developing and implementing process improvements to drive quality, productivity, and innovation. The Operations Engineer supports and improves the full range of activities within the Operations department, working closely with the OPO Operations Manager to ensure smooth and timely delivery, quality, and support. This role is part of the OPO Operations Team and reports directly to the Operations Manager. The work includes occasional travel to other sites worldwide.

Responsibilities

Process Implementation, scaling-up, development and Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, deploy and implement new processes and techniques to improve platform & product quality, process robustness and manufacturability Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements Supply Chain Management: Ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components Training and Development: Train and mentor operations staff on new equipment, processes, and techniques to ensure a high level of competence and safety Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to drive efficiency, productivity, and innovation Provide technical support for the production process to ensure smooth operations Identify and address root causes of technical disturbances, implementing measures to prevent reoccurrence Lead work preparation in all aspects, including developing operating instructions and process flow charts, establishing production sequences and tooling requirements, and defining process parameters and key performance indicators Continuously analyze production processes to identify structural problems and bottlenecks, developing and proposing improvement suggestions, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as R&D, Application Engineering and Service to implement changes Work closely with customers to ensure seamless integration of printed lenses into the broader production process for end products Analyze and monitor performance trends and propose improvements to optimize machine uptime and overall efficiency Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Application Development, and Service Teams, to implement new technologies and processes

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics, Applied Physics) with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience Experience with supervising operators to ensure the process and quality are well-controlled Skilled at driving the industrialization of new technologies, bridging the transition from experimental R&D phases to robust, mature production or operational systems Experience on process/technology scaling up and industrialisation Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor Familiarity with quality management systems Demonstrated experience to build positive relationships and communicate clearly across a wide range of background and teams Excels in agile, fast-moving teams and embraces new challenges with enthusiasm Proven problem-solving and analytical skills Proven capability to juggle multiple projects while effectively prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines Practical and adaptable, applying creative solutions to complex challenges Proactive in pursuing solutions, leveraging technical skills to diagnose and address underlying issues Proven experience in navigating and adapting to rapidly changing work conditions and priorities Willingness to travel occasionally to other sites Detail driven Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field 5+ years of experience in operations of 3D printing platforms of ophthalmic lens Experience with ophthalmic lens manufacturing or medical device industry Extensive knowledge of 3D printing technologies
