Oracle Generative AI Applications team is an exciting, new team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, delivering innovative services at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. In Generative AI Applications team, you will build and operate Cloud native services and SaaS applications leveraging state of art machine learning and Generative AI technologies for internal and external customers. You will be part of a team of smart, hands-on engineers that creates AI-assisted tools like Chat, Code Assistance, Agentic AI to solve enterprise productivity use cases that helps developers and non-developers personas with everyday tasks. At every level, our engineers have a significant technical and business impact by designing and building innovative new systems to power our customer’s business critical applications.

Your Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Principal Engineer (Consulting Member Technical Staff) to provide technical leadership out of India Development Center for Gen AI applications and service development.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience as a software engineer in applications and distributed systems development
• 5+ years of experience in Cloud (IaaS, PaaS or SaaS)
• Experience with at least one high level language such as Java (preferred) or Python
• Expertise with micro-services and API based development with deep knowledge of Identity, Security, Storage and Container technologies
• Experience driving technical design, operations and infrastructure decisions
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Excellent judgment to influence technical roadmap direction, features, and priorities
• Bachelor / Master’s degree or Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer related technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or knowledge of ML operations, ML pipelines, LLMs, Generative AI or Agentic AI 
• Familiarity with tools like ChatGPT, Copilots and/or agentic AI protocols like MCP

Responsibilities

As a Consulting Member of the software engineering division, you will participate in all activities of development and operations of OCI Generative Applications.

• Technical Leadership: Provide thought leadership and technical guidance to development and operations teams on best practices, cloud infrastructure, Service Architecture of Generative AI services
• Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and apply necessary optimizations to enhance service performance and scalability.
• Security Management: Ensure the security of cloud solutions by designing and implementing secure architectures, performing risk assessments, and adhering to best practices for identity management and data protection.
• Disaster Recovery and High Availability: Design and implement high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud-based systems and applications.
• Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with other architects, engineers, and stakeholders to develop and maintain system designs, architecture diagrams, and documentation. Work with applied scientists and address external and internal shareholder’s product challenges
• Innovation: Stay current with the latest advancements in cloud technologies, Generative AI, Agentic Platform, Multi Agent System and Tooling and evaluate their applicability to improve infrastructure solutions and increase customer adoption
• Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies regarding data privacy, security, and cloud governance.
• Operation Excellence: Troubleshoot, mitigate and resolve performance and design issues and incidents in production carve out runbooks, contribute to runbooks and present in operations review forums, Provide on-call manager OCI Generative AI Services to customers to manage service outage and swiftness to recovery
• Hiring and Enablement : Participate in talent hiring and talent development, including mentorship
