As a Manager of Software Development in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you will build and lead an engineering team in the development, delivery, and operation of cloud services that will enable animation, film and game development studios to migrate their entire production pipeline to the cloud. The charter is responsibility for a new set of cloud services focused specifically on the digital media production industry. Product areas include virtual animation workstation service, digital asset management, high performance storage, render farm as a service, license management, and production pipeline management services. This is an opportunity to build a competitive offering from the ground up and extend the reach of OCI to address green field opportunities in the media and entertainment industry.


You will work with leadership to chart a path to success, providing influence and direction based on your experience as an engineering leader. For this leadership role we are seeking an individual with experience building and leading development, delivery and operation of a cloud service. Prior experience in media production pipeline infrastructure services used in film, animation and game development studios is a plus. As a manager we seek individuals with highly evolved soft skills in addition to technical acumen. Excellent communication and the ability to lead and collaborate with others are hallmarks. You will mentor engineers and must be capable of driving technical projects and initiatives. You will have continuous opportunities to lead and be a catalyst for technical innovation.

We’re building next-generation distributed systems in the cloud. To succeed in this role, you’ll need prior cloud experience (OCI, AWS, Azure, or GCP) and the ability to apply it to complex, large-scale environments.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in managing engineers whose primary function is designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems in production settings.
  • Domain knowledge and experience with workflows and pipelines for media production: digital asset management and namespaces, familiarity with 3d frameworks, universal scene description, scene graphs, layers and models, 3d data packaging, rendering workflows, image composition, tools used in the workflow by artists, engineers, editors and content creators is a plus.
  • Experience leading the development of cloud services.
  • Experience collaborating with geo-distributed teams.

  • Recruit and hire engineering staff capable of delivering cloud services in a DevOps model.
  • Direct, lead, and coach an engineering team to deliver and operate cloud services that enable animation, film and game development studios to run their production workflows in the cloud.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, ensuring compliance and driving innovation within the organization.
  • Launching new cloud services and establishing operational excellence.
  • Ability to engage with geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing the best talent.
  • Establishing and stimulating software development standards and processes along with best practices for the team.
  • Developing tactical plans to accomplish technical as well as business objectives with leadership chain, team, and customers.
  • Set goals and expectations for team and individual performance, work with employees to establish specific, measurable goals and commitments.
