Manager, Network Deployment & Support
Description
Meta is seeking a Network Deployment & Support Manager to lead the deployment of next-generation Backbone Network infrastructure. In this engineering management role, you will build and scale the team, foster an environment of ownership, speed, quality, predictability, and efficiency, and directly impact the design, deployment, and operation of Meta’s global edge and backbone network. We are looking for a candidate who will drive technical strategy, architecture, and execution for projects within Edge Network Services (ENS), ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This individual will also provide hands-on technical contributions, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting, demonstrating domain expertise and technical impact.
Responsibilities
Manage, mentor, and support a team of engineers fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, operational efficiency Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support career development for direct reports, empowering team members to grow and succeed Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and execution for your team’s projects within Edge Network Services (ENS) on network deployment and migrations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals Provide hands-on technical contributions (design, code reviews, troubleshooting, etc.) on large scale complex programs at the experienced engineer level, demonstrating in-depth domain expertise and technical impact Ensure high standards for reliability, scalability, and performance in all deliverables, driving continuous improvement in engineering processes and technical quality Collaborate cross-functionally across Network Engineering, Data Center, Edge, and Planning teams to ensure successful execution of shared goals on Network Capacity and Reliability Represent your team in planning, reviews, calibrations, and organizational initiatives, advocating for team needs and company-wide improvements Deploy, migrate and support our global production network including edge, backbone, and data center infrastructure Manage key vendor relationships including contract negotiations, pricing, and evaluation of current and potential partnerships Manage partner engineering team relationships to enable the team(s) to effectively meet business needs Mentor and onboard new team members, raising the team’s overall technical acumen and building internal community Demonstrate leadership behaviors by helping others, showing respect, connecting people, and driving collaboration within the team and organization Drive hiring efforts: Partner with recruiting to define role requirements, participate in interviews, evaluate candidates, and make hiring decisions to build an effective team Lead retention initiatives: Foster a team environment that proactively addresses engagement and satisfaction, support career growth, and implement strategies to retain top talent. Monitor and act on team feedback to ensure team members are empowered, growing, and happy 10% to 30% of travel
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in network (IP/Optical) engineering in large-scale network deployment, including hands-on responsibility for planning, building, or migrating production networks 3+ years of people management experience leading engineering teams responsible for network deployment, reliability, or site infrastructure Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience Hands-on experience with enterprise and carrier class routing, switching, and optical transport platforms Knowledge of data center design and operational best practices Proven experience leading and executing network deployment and migration projects Experience interacting with vendors and external parties to drive projects to completion Network certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE, JNCIP Experience in data center, edge, or large-scale network environments Knowledge of various scripting languages Experience with process improvement and systems development, leveraging automation to streamline repetitive workflows
Compensation: $162,000/year to $227,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
