AI Research Manager - Facebook Discovery

Description

We are seeking a visionary and experienced technical leader to join our AI research and development teams focused on advancing the next generation of artificial intelligence technologies. This role involves leading multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation in large language models, on-device AI, and/or AI-powered wearable experiences.

Responsibilities

Be hands-on supporting and leading teams of software engineers, research engineers, and/or research scientists Remain up-to-date on ongoing research and software development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges, and be involved in design decisions Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with clients and peer teams to accelerate research and development across projects Develop research plans, technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization Present the team's work and plans in cross-company executive forums as well as to the scientific community Remain involved in the research community, both understanding trends, and setting them

Qualifications

12+ years of experience or PhD and 8+ years of experience in a related industry research and development setting 2+ years of experience managing managers, 5+ years of experience managing technical teams Experience and track record of landing large research and/or product impacts in a time-sensitive environment Experience with cross functional collaboration with product and infrastructure teams, as well as non-engineering functions Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management Large Language Model Large scale modeling Multi-modality modeling

Compensation: $219,000/year to $301,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
