We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead our Database Security Team. In this critical role, you will oversee the design and development Oracle AI database security features. Your focus will be driving innovation, deliver new features and maintainance in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Oracle AI database is undergoing rapid transformation to ensure security for our customers' business critical data in cloud databases, analytic and AI applications. User private database is new database enforced data authorization for development of secure enterprise, analytics and Agentic AI applications. RAS (Real Application Security) offers fine-grained, application-level security controls enabling declarative and context-driven authorization for modern applications. Database privileges are primary authorization controls for a secure database.

You will be leading talented 5-6 developers in defining new security enhancements in Oracle AI database and ensuring security is woven into other database features. You will also work with QA developers on quality, understand, guide sustenance engineers on customer issues and doc team on well defined documentation. You will be interacting with various database development teams on guiding them on security design and implementation. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers responsible for core database security components, including authentication, authorization, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability management.
  • Define, execute, and deliver the product roadmap for database security features to meet evolving customer and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, quality assurance, operations, and security compliance teams.
  • Ensure secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including code reviews, threat modeling, and security testing.
  • Mentor, develop, and retain talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
  • Monitor project progress, handle resourcing, and adjust priorities as needed to meet business and technical goals.
  • Stay current on the latest trends in database security, AI database features and incorporate them into product planning.
  • Represent the team in technical discussions with stakeholders, customers, and external partners.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and contribute to strategic technology initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • 9+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
  • Strong background in database internals, security principles and hands-on experience building database or infrastructure software.
  • Solid understanding of modern database systems (relational and/or NoSQL), cloud platforms, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices, common security vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and people management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with compliance and regulatory requirements related to data security and privacy.
  • Experience leading a database internal development team in a large-scale enterprise software environment.
