Detailed Description:

We are seeking an experienced software development engineer to diagnose issues across the JDK, with a focus on JVM technical areas. In addition to resolving customer issues, your responsibilities will include enhancing our diagnostic tools and troubleshooting training materials. You will also help maintain stability and overall product quality through serviceability enhancements to our debugging and diagnostic tools. 

The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to assess and resolve issues within various areas of the codebase and across multiple major releases of Java. You will further develop your skills to address JDK-level issues and actively participate in the Java/OpenJDK community. 

This position is based in Morocco. You will collaborate with Java engineers globally. In addition to standard business hours, this role includes “on-call” duties during evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent, plus 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong skills in some or all of the following: Win32 APIs, Unix, C/C++, and core Java
  • Experience with debugging tools such as WinDbg, GDB, or DBX, and the ability to diagnose issues using core dumps, logs, etc.
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, and MacOS operating systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and strong self-motivation
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, performance tuning, threading, and concurrency
  • Proven troubleshooting and debugging abilities
  • Passion for customer satisfaction and ability to provide thorough, effective technical information
  • Ability to work effectively with both local and remote team members and adhere to group processes
  • Strong organizational skills and effective written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus
