The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve and mediate conflicts, risks, priorities and trade-offs, helping the team coordinate next steps, build consensus, and land in solution space.
  • Lead the team to ensure hardware specifications deliverables are met at each design phase.
  • Lead new design concept, features through exploration, prototyping, implementation to mass production.
  • Partner with cross-functional leads to assess the technical feasibility of the system integration and program schedule.
  • Communicate system-level technical issues.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in a consumer or wearable electronics system design technical environment.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Architecture, Power/Battery, low/high speed interface (e.g., MIPI, SPI, I2C, DDR, USB, I2S/PDM), Analog engineering, Connectivity, Modules (e.g., Display, Camera, Speaker, Sensor, GNSS..etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in leading teams or mentoring engineers for joint design manufacturer/original design manufacturer models.
  • Experience with wearable design and critical components (e.g., GNSS, Display, Sensor, SiP, debugging, power/battery life profiling, validation and implementation).
  • Experience in driving projects to production along with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hardware product execution such as Product Management, UX, Industrial Design, Cost, and Factory operations.
  • Ability to design, validate, enhance multiple domains (e.g., Software component, system design trade-off).
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
